I still think that “…Scott and I…” sound better, but it is true that if you remove the “Scott and” it just sounds bad.

If the subjects were placed before the verb, you would be right. “Scott and I were asked to wait outside…”

However, in the case of this specific arrangement, the proper wordage would be “…Scott and I…”
